Why Hendricks

Boutique Shop vs National Race-Prep Chain.

The big multi-shop race-prep operations all run programs in this market. Here's what's different about a Daytona-based, family-run boutique shop with the Master Machinist on the bench.

Common Questions

Answers Before You Call.

The questions we get most often, with straight answers — not sales-speak.

What spec series do you run?
We campaign Mazda MX-5 Cup race cars in the Whelen-liveried spec series — preparing, transporting, and supporting drivers across the full season. We also run sports car and prototype programs alongside MX-5 Cup, with the same crew and the same standard.
Do you actually do engine machining in-house, or do you outsource?
Fully in-house. Our Master Machinist has 40+ years on the bench and works on Porsche, Ferrari, Lamborghini, American muscle, and LS-based builds. The block is cut, the head is decked, and the engine is assembled at our shop on Mason Ave — never sent out.
What suspension platforms do you service?
Öhlins, Moton, JRZ, Penske, and Ktech. We do setup, corner balancing, dyno service, and full rebuilds. Off-season refreshes and mid-season service are scheduled at the shop — bench-tested and dyno-verified before going back on the car.
Can I bring my own car, or do you supply one?
Both. Some clients arrive with their own car for full prep and trackside support. Others run an arrive-and-drive program in one of our cars — typically the Mazda MX-5 Cup chassis. We scope it at the shop based on the program you want.
What tracks do you run at?
Primarily the Florida and Southeast circuits — Daytona International Speedway, Sebring, VIR, Road Atlanta, Homestead-Miami. Outside the region we travel for the right program, and we can store and transport the car year-round.
What's a typical engagement look like?
It depends on the program. A single weekend at Sebring with full crew is one model. A full Mazda MX-5 Cup season — off-season build, every event prep, year-round storage — is another. A multi-year campaign with engine development and a dedicated chassis is the deepest tier. We sit down at the shop and scope it before any commitment.
Do you do hot rod and street-car work too?
Yes. Per a recent client review: "Race team work, suspension work, hot rod work, machining — all top notch." If it has an engine and you want it built right, the Master Machinist's bench is open.
